For the past 4 years, Telva Richburg (WCE Board Member) has led a student delegation to Spain
during Mid-Winter Vacation. Her students, who are studying Spanish, also focus on the art of
4 of Spain's most renown painters: Picasso, El Greco, Vlasquez, and Goya. Educational Tours
include a Madrid City Tour where the delegation visits the El Prado Museum for the first viewing
of each artist's work, a day trip to Toledo the former Imperial Capital with many of El Greco's
masterpieces, a visit to Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen, and a Barcelona City Tour with a
visit to the Picasso Museum and La Sagrada Familia (Sacred Family Cathedral, an architectural
marvel). The trip is highlighted by school visits to Colegio Virgen de Atocha (a private school
in Madrid), Instituto Appelles Mestres (a public school in Barcelona), and Escola Pia de Sarria
(a private school in Barcelona).
